Local property values near pre-recession levels

A study shows property values in the Fox Valley are following a state trend.

Todd Berry of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance says statewide values rose 2.6 percent over the past year. That was the first increase since 2008.

Brown County values climbed 1.2 percent, and Calumet County's were up 1.8 percent. Outagamie County's rose 1.9 percent, while Winnebago County's were up 1.2 percent.

Berry says Calumet County is the only county in the area where property values are above pre-recession levels. But he says the rest of the area isn't too far behind.

Berry says higher property values can lead to more revenue for schools and local governments.
