Small plane makes emergency landing on Gresham Rd

The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office says a single engine airplane made an emergency landing Saturday night.

Officials say the pilot had engine trouble and had to land the plane about 8 p.m. on Gresham Road just east of Wagner Road.  That’s about 5 miles north of the Waterloo Regional Airport.

Deputies said 49-year-old Michael Hickman and his 22-year-old son James, both of Longmont, Colo. were flying to Oshkosh, Wis. for the 2014 Experimental Aircraft Association Air Show.  There were no injuries and no damage to the plane.

A flatbed truck towed the plane to the Waterloo Regional Airport.
