Woman's body found on road near Walker

Local and state authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was found on the Linn-Buchanan County line near Walker Wednesday morning.

Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner said investigators were called to the scene on Linn-Buchanan Avenue, a quarter-mile east of Betty's Grove Road, at around 6:35 a.m. Wednesday.  Gardner said they found a fully-clothed white female lying in the road with multiple injuries.  The victim's identity, method of injury and cause of death are unknown at this time.  The body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

The investigation into this death is being cooperatively conducted by the Linn and Buchanan County Sheriff's Offices and the Iowa Division of Ceiminal Investigation.
