More 4th of July travelers expected

The Fourth of July is a week away, and people should expect to see more travelers for the holiday this year.

AAA Wisconsin spokeswoman Pam Moen says their survey found that more than 870,000 people from the state plan to take a trip of at least 50 miles. She says that's up two percent from a year ago.

Eighty-eight percent of holiday travelers in Wisconsin plan to take a car, and nearly five percent are flying somewhere.

Moen says Independence Day is typically a busier travel holiday than Memorial Day or Labor Day. She says more families plan to take an extended trip this year because the Fourth is on a Friday.
