Boy who escaped from training school apprehended

The Iowa Department of Human Services says the last of eight students who ran from the Eldora State Training School in April has been apprehended.

The agency announced Wednesday that the student was taken into custody overnight in Scott County.  He's being held at a detention facility while awaiting a court hearing.

The juvenile will face additional charges.

The eight students ran from staff and into a nearby wooded area as they were being escorted from the gymnasium to their cottage.  Police and staff found five students within an hour, and two others were found within days in Cedar Rapids.

The training school has 130 beds for boys aged 12 to 18 who are considered seriously delinquent.  Most have been charged with offenses against people.
