Man pulled from river dies at Des Moines hospital

Authorities say a 64-year-old man who had fallen into the Raccoon River has died at a Des Moines hospital.

The man died Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  He was identified as Allen Kinnick.

A witness told police that Kinnick had been drinking on Saturday afternoon in a homeless camp under the Southwest Seventh Street bridge in Des Moines.  The witness reports that Kinnick got up, took a few steps and fell into the river.  He was pulled from the water about 15 minutes later, around seven blocks downstream.
