Swimming advisory issued for Beeds Lake

Officials have issued a swimming advisory for Beeds Lake in Hampton.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a recent water sample collected at the state park exceeded standard levels for E. coli.

The water is not closed for swimming.  But officials say the advisory is a warning for visitors to take additional precautions, including showering shortly after swimming and avoiding lake water ingestion.
