Sea turtle lands in Dubuque after 3 plane rides

A young sea turtle found injured in Georgia last year has made a long trip to its new home in eastern Iowa.

The rescued creature arrived Thursday at Dubuque's National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium after three flights and nearly 1,200 miles of travel.

Museum officials say that the turtle was found in 2013 with significant damage to its shell. It is partially paralyzed, but officials say it can still move around pretty well.

Officials say the turtle will be a significant addition to the aquarium.  It currently weighs about 20 pounds but could grow to as many as 400 pounds.
