Article puts Neenah in national spotlight

The decision by Neenah police to get a former military vehicle generated some national attention earlier this week.

The New York Times published an article on Monday, focusing on the debate over whether police departments are becoming more militarized.

Neenah Chief Kevin Wilkinson says he's not really happy that they were picked as the spotlight of the story. But he says he understands, because Neenah is a mid-America town where people would want to live.

Since the article was published on Monday, Wilkinson says he's received some calls and emails, from around the country. He says they're from people on both sides of the issue.

Neenah got one of the free trucks to replace its SWAT vehicle.
