Schmitt to push options for Walmart site

There could be another twist today in the debate over a Walmart in downtown Green Bay.

The city council is expected to vote on the latest plans for a Supercenter next week, and Mayor Jim Schmitt wants to lay out some possible alternatives for the site.

Schmitt will hold a press conference at City Hall this afternoon, on the Larsen Green site in the Broadway district. He has opposed the 150,000 square foot Walmart store since the retailer unveiled its proposal last year.

The plan commission voted against the Walmart development earlier this week, 3-to-2.
