Dudas trial goes to jury

An Outagamie County jury is deciding whether a local attorney is guilty of sexually assaulting and beating his wife.

Jurors started their deliberations in the David Dudas trial last night, after hearing closing arguments from prosecution and defense attorneys.

The 49-year-old divorce attorney faces 31 charges. Fifteen of them are for sexual assault. The rest are for battery, reckless injury, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidating a victim. The charges are based on incidents that started about two years ago.

Prosecutors say Dudas videotaped the assaults, and his wife reported them after a particularly violent night. Defense attorneys say the couple was into violent sex acts, and the incidents were consensual.

Testimony in the trial lasted for seven days.
