Testing of tornado sirens expanded

Outagamie County's emergency management department is making some changes, following the controversy that came after a storm spawned six tornadoes last August.

This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Emergency management director Julie Loeffelholz says they added a siren test on Wednesdays, to the weekly Saturday tests. She says they also test them silently, every day.

Loeffelholz says the county's emergency response policies were updated as well.

Some people criticized the county last year, because the sirens didn't sound when the tornadoes went through. National Weather Service officials say they were difficult to see on radar.
