Ellis backs tax exemption for Gulfstream

A proposal tht will go before the Assembly next month could bring new jobs to Gulfstream, in the Appleton area.

Senate President Mike Ellis says the airplane company is losing business to other states that have a tax exemption for work on non-commercial planes. He says the state would lose about $3 million a year in revenue, but the economy would get a boost.

Ellis says Gulfstream would plan to add about 300 jobs, over several years. The Neenah Republican says the change would also benefit companies in Milwaukee and the Wausau area.

The Senate already approved the bill.
