Dems want to repeal gay marriage ban

A group of Democratic lawmakers introduced a constitutional amendment this morning to repeal the state's ban on gay marriage.

Fair Wisconsin executive director Katie Belanger knows the proposal probably won't get through the Republican-controlled Legislature this year. But she says it's important to move forward with it now.

Belanger says it's important that Wisconsin doesn't get left behind, especially since Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa allow gay marriage.

Belanger says it's important for Democrats and Republicans to get on board, because no state has passed a marriage equality bill without bipartisan support.
