New nursing home planned for King

The state department of veterans affairs wants to build a new 200-bed facility at the veterans home in King.

Kathy Marschman is the assistant deputy secretary of the agency. She says they plan to move people from Stordock Hall, to what would be called the Moses Skilled Nursing Home. Marschman says they would incorporate the latest designs for nursing homes, and get away from an institutional-type feeling.

State lawmakers still have to sign off on the $80 million project. The federal government will pick up 65 percent of the cost, so the state will have to pay $28 million.
