Today is a special blood donation drive in Waterloo with LifeServe Blood Center. All donations stay in the Cedar Valley, including directly to Allen Hospital.

The Nasty Food Bug cause has been identified...probably. Officials in Iowa are quite sure it was a national brand salad mix--romaine and iceberg with sliced red cabbage and carrotts--that caused the very sickening, parasite outbreak affecting 145 Iowans and nearly 400 nationwide. However, the Iowa Department of Public Health will not release the name of the manufacture or store(s) that made and sold the salad, since officials are sure the source of the illness is now totally out of the food chain. As such, officials are prevented, by law, from revealing the source.

Big changes coming to our gas pumps in September when 87-Octane gasoline (Regular Unleaded) will no longer be deliverd to Iowa by pipeline. What's behind this move and what are opitons for consumers? Guest is Harold Hommes of the Iowa Department of Agriculture who is a fuel analyst.
